Cullowhee Turns Over a New Leaf
The future of the Cullowhee Native Plant Conference will be taking place outside of the beautiful town of Cullowhee, NC. Our plan is to take the conference to new locations in the upcoming years under our new name, The Southeastern Native Plant Conference. How exactly we do so will be informed by our past, present, and future Cullowhee community. We have created several ways for you to make your voice heard and we would appreciate your input on important decisions about the future of the conference that we have yet to make. The Continuing Cullowhee survey should take only 5 minutes to complete, but we appreciate you taking the time to fill in the open sections at the end of the survey. Your input is important to shaping the future of this conference!
The venue for next year’s conference is still on the table. If you have a great spot in mind and are willing to do some preliminary leg work to help the steering committee narrow down our options, please use the Venue Ideas button below to make your recommendation.
Starting over will be challenging and we will be in need of assistance to keep the magic alive. Western Carolina University has fulfilled many of the administrative and logistical requirements of the conference planning process in the past. Moving forward, the Southeastern Native Plant Conference may or may not have that type of support available when it finds its new home. The transition team is very small at this time, and it is quite possible that the team will need to divide and conquer into newly formed sub-committees to handle a myriad of tasks from volunteer legal and accounting services, to deciding how to best allocate an entertainment budget.
